All-Sindh Mango Festival (Mirpur Khas)

The oldest of Pakistan's mango festivals, running annually since 1955 in early June. The festival coincides with the Sindhri harvest peak and includes a variety competition with judges from the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council.

The competition awards prizes for the heaviest single fruit, the highest sugar-Brix, the most aromatic, and a 'best new variety' prize for experimental grafts.

Multan Mango Festival

Held in late June at the Multan Agricultural University. The festival is more commercial, a trade show for export buyers, packaging companies and export logistics, but it includes a public mango tasting that draws crowds of 30,000+.

The festival's signature event is the 'King of Chaunsa' competition, judged blind by a panel of Lahore chefs.

Mango diplomacy in Islamabad

Every July, the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts a mango reception for the Islamabad diplomatic corps. Crates of premium Honey Chaunsa are sent as gifts to friendly governments.

Pakistani mango boxes have been gifted to the UK Royal Family, the White House and the Élysée Palace. The practice began in the 1970s under Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
