Mango season experience
A whole UK mango season, week by week: Amna's 2026 PakMango.Com diary from Glasgow

“Sindhri is your warm-up. Chaunsa is your peak. Anwar Ratol is your fling. Langra is the one that breaks your heart in September.”
Amna decided in May 2026 that she was going to run the entire UK Pakistani mango season, every variety, every harvest window, week by week, from her flat in Glasgow's south side. She kept a notebook. She rated every carton. She made her partner taste blind every Saturday afternoon.
Her diary, edited and shared with us at the end of September, is the closest thing we've seen to an outsider's season guide.
Sindhri (early June): "Bright, light, almost lemony. A good warm-up. Don't eat too fast, they soften over four days and the last one is the best one." Honey Chaunsa (early July): "This is the one. Resin, honey, the smell of the room changes when you open the box. Eat them at room temperature, not from the fridge." Anwar Ratol (late July): "Small. Dense. Almost no fibre. You eat them in pairs without thinking. Don't share these." Langra (mid August): "Green-skinned, perfumed. The one I'd serve a guest who thinks they've tried Pakistani mangoes before. They haven't tried this." Dosehri (late August / early September): "Sweetest of the lot. Smaller stone. Pair with kulfi and you've won the dinner."
Her one big takeaway: "Reserve every week. Don't skip a variety because you didn't like the description. I almost skipped Langra and it turned out to be my favourite carton of the season. Trust the orchard, not the photograph."
Her one piece of feedback for us: "The week-rollover email is too polite. Say 'YOUR CARTON IS GONE' in caps. I missed Dosehri week one because the email blended in with my work inbox." Noted.
