Eid al-Adha 2026: six cartons, six houses, Tariq's PakMango.Com gifting round

Tariq runs a small accountancy practice in Sparkbrook. For the last fifteen Eids he has spent the days before Eid al-Adha driving around Birmingham distributing mango cartons to his parents, his in-laws, his sister, his two uncles and the family of a friend who passed away in 2018. "It was the round. Everyone expected it."

The problem was always the fruit. The cash-and-carry cartons he bought from the wholesaler in Bordesley Green were a lottery, sometimes excellent, sometimes a carton of fruit so green it had to ripen for a week. He'd open every box, sort the mangoes by ripeness, and re-package them so each house got a usable mix. It took most of the day.
